Pretty much each week from early October to March my three kids play wheelchair basketball. The sport is organized by the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Center (OCTC) Recreational Therapy Department with partnership from the City Of Ottawa. OCTC provides a wide range of medical, therapy, and counselling services for children a variety of disabilities. The purpose behind the the wheelchair basketball club is for all participants to learn a new sport, and for siblings to have a sport they can play together. That’s right, not all the kids have a disbality, which is another aspect of the game. The kids are learning from current and former provincial team members so the level of expertise is pretty high. The kids have a great time playing and learning together.
